Anita Cleare: Thinking Parenting

Welcome to my blog. This isn’t meant to be a perfect parenting ‘How to’ guide: I firmly believe that there is no such thing as a perfect parent (thank goodness). Having studied parenting and child development, my passion is coaching parents in using positive parenting strategies in the Anita Cleare parenting expertreal world, in real families. As a parenting expert, you might think that I ought to be pretty good at parenting but (as you’ll see from my more confessional posts) in fact I just feel a lot more guilty when I get it wrong… Parenting isn’t easy and the most we can realistically hope for is not to repeat the same mistakes too often.

So, in the spirit of helping you learn – from my own mistakes, from my experiences working with parents, from developmental psychology and clinical research – the following posts aim to help you think about parenting and about what type of parent you want to be. I hope you find the blog useful, entertaining and thought-provoking and that it helps you take time out from the frenetic activity of being a parent to step back and reflect on the whats, the whys and the wherefores of parenting.
