Welcome! You have come to the right place to think and learn about parenting. This is the home of my parenting blog ‘Thinking Parenting’. It is also where you can find out about workplace parenting seminars from The Positive Parenting Project or get support for yourself or your family.
You can also find out more about my book The Work/Parent Switch.
There is no such thing as a perfect parent (thank goodness). Having studied parenting and child development, my goal is to help parents find ways to use positive parenting strategies in the real world, in their real families.
As a parenting expert, you might think that I ought to be pretty good at parenting. But (as you’ll see from my more confessional blog posts) in fact I just feel a lot more guilty when I get it wrong… Parenting isn’t easy and the most we can realistically hope for is to learn from our mistakes quickly and not repeat them too often.
So, in the spirit of helping you learn – from my own mistakes, from my experiences working with parents, from developmental psychology and clinical research – I will help you think about parenting, share useful parenting strategies and signpost you to ideas, resources and sources of support. So you can create the family life you really want.
